The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, November 9,1904. Fall Leaves from Black Creek. Well, we still have dry weather and from the present outlook it seems that it might continue for a while yet we live in hopes for the showers bog looked for. l?he farmers are almost through gathering and the complaints of poor crops are seldom heard in tbi6 sec ' tion. How thankful we should be to Him who is the giver of alHhings. The Rev. J. Lather Shealy of Brookland, and the accomplished daughter of Mr. George C. Clark, Miss Agnes, were married on Scmdsy of last week. May their pathway through life be strewn with bouquets, i The mercantile fever seems to have j struck our people, as they are more j :u-; bow enterprises going up in this sec- j tion. Mr. J. William Keisler who I resides about six miles south of j Gilbert having become tired of farm! )ife is now about ready to erect a v mercantile establishment Mr. Eml F..Shealy recently made a business trip to Aagusta and now his shelves ?* ? ?? ? ?? mUk (amnfinn 2D DJB HWro Hit) iuhudu miu vcuiyvtu^ yalaes of various kinds of merchanr r diw?. Also Mr. Simon P. Smith is | 3 d*8l?ng 8 little larger in merchandise than usual, in fact if a man is the possessor of a dollar in this section, i he has no trouble to find a mercantile establishment to spend it, and no ^doobt, get a wonderful big bargain. The Pond Branch public school is bow in progress under the management of our young friend J Oiin Grout. Oiih is a bright boy and no doubt will make a scccessful instructor in the school room. Mr./E. Capers Lewis recently returned to Charleston to resume his medical studies. FSoocees to the Dispatch and its many readers. C. M. D. November 1,1904 $200 Brorard. $100. The well backet fixture men are here with all their paraphernelia and like onto that noble band known a8 uer Sons of Temperence", they - propose to assist civilization and Christian endeavor by giving pure water more easily, thereby decreasing man's savage inclination to drink stronger stuff than that best of bev eragee, pur? "Adam's ale", and the only kind our projenitor ever1 saw, and there is no record that he ever drank it to his injury.or desired anything better. But I don't believe he ever drank or loved the water of any river as muddy as Broad river, and it leaves doubt in many of our minds J- whether oar friend P. J. Backer is ahead or behind grandpa Adam. But I am sure that river which ran through the Garden of Eden wa3 not muddy from the washings of the fields of the farmers who lived up the river. Spectator. Swansea, S. C. ? ?' ? A Residence Burned. Guignard ba9 bepn elected President of the South Carolina Agriculturial and Mechanical society. Speaking of his election the Columbia State says: "It is noteworthy that many Columbians joined the society this year. The election of Mr. G A. Guignard as President was in our opinion a happy choice. While a resident of Lexington he is claimed by Columbia and bis energy and progressiveness would be a valuable asset to any | enterprise. He will certainly ensure the fair society more local support than it has heretofore received." The selection of Mr. "Guignard was, indeed, a happy choice and one in which all Lexington r<-pices as he will bring to his assistance in furthering the interest of the fair, that energy and progressiveness that baa characterized him in the management of his own business. ^ Cures Blood Poison, Cancers, Ulcers If you have offensive pimples or eruptions, ulcers an any part of the body, aching bores or joints, falling hair, mucous patches, swollen glands, ekm itches and burns, sore lips or gums, eating, festering sores, sharp gnaging pains then you suffer from serious blood poison or the beginning of deadly cancer. New York. Salt pork is a famous oldfashioned remedy for consumption. "Eat plenty of pork," was the advice to the consumptive 50 and 100 years ago. Salt pork is good if a man can stomach it. The idea behind it is that fat is the food the consumptive needs most. Scott's Emulsion is themodera method of feeding fat to the consumptive. Pork is too rough for sensitive stomachs. Scott's Emulsion is the most refined of fats, especiallv prepared for easy digestion. Feeding him fat in this way, which is often the only way, is half the battle, but Scott's Emulsion docs more than that. There is something about the combination of cod liver oil andhypophosphitcs in Scott's Emulsion that puts new life into the weak parts and has a special action on the diseased lungs.
