Miss Etheredge comes to Leesville with mmy friends already won. On last Satprday night a negro by the name of John Cannon was killed near this place. From testimony brought out it is thought he was a member of a gambling party. He v,<is buried at the expense of the county. President Haynes has made a continuous campaign throughout the State in interest of the school here. Never before have prospects been brighter. Last aessioa an additional hail was added for the accommodation of students. Very likely a similar addition will have to be made the incoming session. Sunday afternoon at the Methodist parsonage, Mr. A C. Bouknight and Mis* Lillie Griffith were married by K v Justus. Both of these popular young people have been connected with the Matthews & Bouknight Co. Mr. Bouknight is destined to be one of Leesville'a most popular business men. Mrs. Bouknigbt is originally from Reevesville. / The Democratic primary election being over, Leesville as a unit, can say she is well pleased with the results. True, everybody didn't get bis man, but the greatest source of gratification to Leesville is to know that her two worthy citizeos, Dr. E. J. E.heredge and Mr. Isaiah Hailmau are esteemed so highly as to receive the popular vote of the cjauty. When we look at the vote these gentlemen received, where best known, i; is no wonder that they were supported as they were, and because of their worthiness all of Leesville feel grateful to Lexington county for sucQ general support. Probably the mo*t remarkable race in the history of Lexington county is that of Dr. Etberedge. With worthv and formidable opponent Mr. Etheredge received from the voters of Lexington county the largest vote of any opposed candidate ever making the race for any office. Again, we sav it ie no wonder, when on of th* approximately four hundred v.,ie* p lied at B-ifcesburg and Leesville t.e received about three hundred and eighty, only losing seven out of the one hundred and ninety-fix at Leesville.
