Plehve, minister of the interior, was assassinated tbia morning in this city by an explosion of a bomb. His coachman and several spectators were also killed. B? Russian revolutionist are jubilant ? over the death of M. Plehve. Is is asserted that there is widespread revolutionary plots on foot, the most I formidable since the assassination of Alexander II. The black list includes all governors of the Russian provinces and ministers. The czar was not included at first, as he was regarded \ as week but amiable, but now he also has been added. We have not yet seen where any arrests have been made in connection with the Eutawville lynching. Solicitor Hilderbrand in his report to the Governor said that the marderers were known. Hacs War Daveloping. Columbia Stat-e. A race war is said to be developing in the Chicago strike district. An effort was made in the packing house restaurants to replace the striking cooks with colored meD, but the young women employed as waiters in the dining rooms at once took cfif their aprons and walked out. Colored men were immediately engaged in place of the girls. The incident has served to inflame the incensed sentiment of the white strikers toward the negro "scabs" and the appearance of a colored man in the neighborhood of the packing houses has been the signal for an outbreak. The Slocum Disaster. New York, July 29?The Federal grand jury which made an exhaustive investigation into the Slocum disaster presented to Judge Thomas the results of its inquiry in tne :United States circuit court today. After a short argument it was decided that those indicted must be in court Monday morning when they will have a chance to plead to the indictments. Trouble in Omaha. Omaha, Neb., July 29 ?A Bmali disturbance occurred this morning during the attempt to run twenty strike breakers into Swift's plant. The pickets interfered and a fight eosued. Two pickets were knocked down by the Swift guards. Lawyers in Legislation. The membership of our houses of representatives has 236 lawyers out of a total of 357. The house of commons, on the other hand, has only 126 lawyers in a total of 670, while the French chamber shows an attendance of 139 lawyers in a total of 584. To Succeed Dr. Lander.
