To the Editor of the Dispatch: This community is bleeecd with good health and we are grateful for the rich blessings. We have had a very dry season up to this writing, having had just enough rain to keep crops growing and not to stop us from plowing, until to day we had a fine tain, the . fbest since early spring. Potato draws are scarce everywhere. The crops in this community are fine, and Soon we'll lay away our bright worn blades, * And we ourselves to rest in the ehadf; For true we have toiled with all our might, And with General Crab we bad a bard figbi; But victory is ours Through dry hot hours; , And by the sweat of our face We'll eat bread and say grace. You will remember this writer gave an account of a strange acting calf of Mr. K- E Miller's that died last spring. -Mow Mr. Miners cow nas went mad and was killed by tbis writer last Monday morning a week ago. Tbis is a bad loss to Mr. Miller and no doubt caused by carelessness of some party with some I little fice dog and not worth ibe powder it would have taken to kill it. Well, ^Klondike," you hit 'em right on the road subject. If you want good road9 elect men that are in favor of good roads and let them appoint overeeeres who believe in working the roads, and make the road tax three or four dollars instead j of one dollar, and we will have good i reads. We have a man down Lere who will have the roads worked o k. j if you will insure his election. As Klondike said, we must report * the Dew babes. Jack Rowe has gone wild because there are two at his bouse, and they are the kind with which Roosevelt loves to dine. But they will not vote. Greenville Mountaineer. Tbe almost phenomenal growth of Greenville within tbe last few years has made it one of tbe best markets in tbe S:ate for chickens and eggs, butter, cbeese, pioduce end vegetables of all kinds. Tbe city is so large that tbe consumption of these ? articles raised by our own county and brought here for tale?f it could be definitely knowD, would be astonishing The vegetable season is now well on and truits, such as peaches and spples, are beginning to come in more rapidly, but the market is not glutted, no danger that it will be, and good prices will continue to prevail. Truck farming, if correctly managed, would certainly pay well if in easy access to the city, and we predict a greater number wiliengage in this line of business withia the next few years.
