To the Editor of the Dispatch: Owing to the press of business af* fairs I have been absent from the oolnmn8 of the good old Dispatch recently* One cumbered with a multiplicity of domestic fcffurs, interspersed with the numerous duties of farm life, duties to the Church as well as looking after Uncle Sam's interest, I have not bad the opportunity of writing just when I should. Among the great number of peri odicala tbat find their way to my i desk none is more welcome than the Dispatch. It seems like a long looked for letter from loved ones at home. The sweet rain in copious showers of abundance have descended, watering the thirsty earth and now all vegetation has taken on a verdure that18 quite refreshing and beautiful to be hold. The crops are excellent thus far and Bbould the seasons continue favorable till harvest, the yield will be the beat for years. Early corn is I unusually good. Our spirits are again drooping. Mrs. j W. A. Goodwin bad recovered enough to be up and about the house for some time, baa relapsed. We would n-w wi uai,. Lo.uML,....ilL..Lir certainly rejoice to see ber restored to ber usuai health once more. We hope when the Good Roads Convention defends ''Silt river,'' it will have accumulated salt enough to raise the poor defeated vote seeker. If everybody were a3 good as the candidates are row, the prisons would be abolished and the poor preacher would have no job. Yes, '"Klondike," you ought to like Uncle Sam, had he issued those orders a while sooner you now would not be revealing the beautiful features of your phiz by being shorn of the appendage that adorned your upper labia, caused from measles caught from a friend taken in the buggy with you while on duty serving Sammie. If you are good at guessing or answering, here are a few questions you can wrestle with: Y'ou can see any day a white horse, but did you ever see a white colt? How many different kinds cf trees grow in your neighborhood and what are they good for? Why does a horse eat grass backwards and a cow lor ward? way does a nop vine wind one way, a bean vine the other ? Where should a chimney be the larger, at the top or bottom, and why ? Can you tell why a horse when tied with a rope always unravels it, while a cow always twists it into a kinky knot ? How old must a grape vine be before it begins to bear ? Can you tell why leaves turn upside down just before a rain? What wood will bear the greatest weight before breaking ? Why are all cow path3 crooked and none straight ? - Sold Under Mortgages.
