Appropriate E ister services were J held in the Lutheran, Baptist and ] Methodist churches last Sunday. At the Lutheran church the pastor, Rev J. G. GraicUen preached a very fine sermon on the resurrection of Christ. Several new members were added to the church, three of whom were by confirmation, and others by letters from other churches. At the Baptist church the Rev. Mr. Keel, entertained his congregation on the same su* j?ct. The Rev. W.D Q rick preached at the Methodist church in the afternoon, aDd preached upon the same interesting subject. The children of the Sunday school of St. StepheD, gave interesting Easter exercises before a large audience. Hoo. C. M. Efird made an address telling of the origin of the "Easter E^g." , New Church Building. We understand that Contractor T. E. Campbell has the contract to build a handsome new church edifice for the congregation of New Bethel, A. M. E. church. We are informed that the building will be located upon the site of the present one in the suburbs of this piac, at \ the foot of Depot street, and that work will be commenced on it in a week or so. Where Will the Meeting Be? We are n quested by Ccl M. D Harman to state that the place for the County re-union of Confederate Veterans to be held has not yet been selected. Places detoring to entertain the re-union are advi??-d to correspond with CjI. M. D. Herman, at Lexington, so that the Executive Committee c*n be called to make the selection. TVessinger, a prominent citizen of the Fork, died ?t his home near High Hill church last Thursday after intense suffering with tumor of the stomach. He was a good aDd useful man to his church and State and his loss will be long felt in the community in which he resided. His mortal lemains now deep in High Hill cemetery. Of Interest to Painters. KaufmanD, suddenly fell unconscious at her home, on Lower Main street, one day last week and remained in this condition for some days. Clerk of the Court Samuel B. George is engaged in recording a mortagage amounting to $6,000,000, on the property of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, in this couDty. We believe that the oame mortgage will have to be recorded in every county through which the S. A. L. passes from Virginia to its southern terminus. Mr. Jules Bradford, of Norfolk, Va., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Bradford, in this place, last week. Letter to John Foz. Lexington, S. C. Dear Sir: A big mill-owner, Spartanburg, S. C., wanted 5,U00 gallons of paint, and bought by price; paid 5 cents less than ourp; got a "leadand zinc" paint; but the lead was sulphate of lead, not carbonate. Sulphate costs about half; and covers about half. That paint was adulterated about six times as much as the 5 cents paid for. He "saved" 5 cents; and it cost him 30. Oh nc; it cost him more than that; we forgot the labor. Can't work it out exactl); don't know how loDg it'll TT COl. Short measure besides; that alone was twice as much as his "saving" 5 cent 8. It was thin, tor; some less there; don't know how much. There was too much dryer in it. The maker made something on that; he didn't. Taking it altogether, be didn't make much by that 5 cents. On January 30tb, 190-1, the death angel visited the home and took away our Brother Irvin H. Nunamaker, and he was transferred from labor to an eternal reward. He had been a member of Union church for many years. He had served faithfully as a Steward and Trustee of our charge for quite awhile. He has gone from the busy cares of life to the joys of the saints in light. The grave had no terrors for him. He was a devoted and affectionate husband, a kind and loving father, a considerate and loving friend, a lcval citizen, a man of sterling integrity, a patient sufferer and was esteemed and lcved by all who knew him. Therefore be it, Resolved 1st. That while we mourn hia loss and cherish his memory, we bow in submission to the will of God. 2nd. That Uoion church and Lexington Fork Circuit haa lost an efficient and faithful worker. 3rd. That we extend our sympathy and condolence to his bereaved family. 4th. Toat thpse resolutions be placed on a page of the minutes of our Quarterly Conference Journal, a copy sent to the Lexington Dispatch and the Southern Christian Advocate for publication, and a copy be sent to the family of our deceased Brother.
