When we went to press last week the case of Senn vs. Southern Railroad was in progress. A verdict for the plaintiff for $170 was rendered Thnrsdav nomine. Following this came the trial of A. C. Rankin vs. Southern By. Co for $1,950 damages. Mrs. Rankin was a passenger from Batesburg to Westiand, on the S. & K. divison, and was carried by her station to the next, and there put cff in the rain, with a small child. The attorneys for the railroad consented to a $400 verdict before any testimony was offered. The suit was brought by Graham and Strotber. Allen Mims, colored, of Swansea, brought suit against the Seaboard, asking damages, by Graham and Martin, and a long and bard trial ensued. Efird & Dreher and McMahan appeared for the corporation. The jury gave Mims $300. In the case of Susie C. Wingard, a minor, vs. J. Hampton Long, for $10,000 damages, the jary gave $1,000. J. B. Motions for Dew trials were made ic all the cases, and all were refused. Auction Sale.
