The First Baptist church of Florence, S. C., has equarely declared against dancing among its members. Some weeks ago several young men and women who had been attending various dances in and near the city, and who were members of the church, were reported to the conference for participating in the dance. A committee of three members was appointed to call upon the young members and use every influence to have them quit dancing, and to see what they had to say and report back to the chbrch. On Sunday last the committee reported that one of the young gentlemen and two oi tne young ladies had seen their mistake and offered an apology, and promised that they would comply with the churchrules and quit dancing. These upon the promise made were unanimously excused and permitted to retain their fellowship. Two of the young gentlemen and one of the young ladies, however, would not promise to quit dancing, and upon motion it was unanimously ? n -i f n 1_:_ aeciaeci coat leiiuwuuip ut) wnu* drawn, when the names of these three young people were by vote erased from church membership. Thus ends a church matter that has been of great moment to the Baptists of Florence. The whole proceeding was of a very quiet nature, and was not done with any1 intention of notoriety or with any spirit of ill-will toward the youDg people who had danced. Had the three last mentioned been willing to give up dancing fellowship would not have been withdrawn, but there was no alternative. When Other Medicines Have Failed Take Foley's Kidney Cure. Since that time no negroes have been allowed in Linton. On Monday the Wallace circus was billed in that town and the management was warned in advance that the 65 negroes connected with the show should not be brought to Linton, so the negroes were taken to a town sis miles south of Cinton and left while the circus went on. A crowd met the train and several hundred men inspected the outfit to see that there were no negroes along. Special coaches were sent for the negroes left behind and this train was run up to Linton at night when the circus was ready to leave, and as the train passed through the town the negroes crouched down behind the seats to avoid daDger.
