Tfie Lexingw)]] Dispatch Wednesday, December 10, 1902. Notes from Little Black Creek. To the Editor of the Dispatch: The health in our community is very good at this writing. ? The good old Dispatch is a welcome visitor to my home. We have sown a large acreage iD wheat this year, have a good stand and it looks well. " * il V, The farmers are an aooui imuugu ( gathering their crops and the yield J is good. I think Mr. Reuben Bouknight is our model farmer. He told me a few days ago th^fc he made nine bales of cotton, and icorn enough to do him this year with one horse. That is good farming in the sand. < The Wateree school is flourishing with Mr. H V. Rish as teacher. Mr. Calvin Taylor has T>een our terpentine boy this year but the cold weather has taken the tar off of his heels until next spring. - - - T_ TV,,. I attended toe uQuareu o x/aj av Pond Branch cburcb last Saturday and enjoyed the exercises very mucb. After the bays and girls did credit to themselves, the congregation was delighted with a very interesting address by Hon. W. H. Sbarpe. It is good to be among good people. Lookeron. Dec. 2,1902 Saved at Grave's Brink. "I know I would long ago have been in my grave," writes Mrs. S. H. Newsom, of Decatur, Ala., uif it bad not been for Electric Bitters. For three years I suffered untold agony from the worst forms of Indigestion, Waterbrasb, Stomach and Bowel Dyspepsia. But this excellent medicine did me a world of good. Since using it I can eat heartily and have gained 35 pounds " For Indigestion, Loss of Appetite, Stomach, Liver and Kidney troubles Electric Bitters are a positive, guaranteed eure. Only 50c. at J. E. Eaufmacn's drug store. Health. Rules Pram Old Bible. In the family Bible of a Roxboroogh man there are a number of medical roles, written over 70 years ago by the great-grandmother of the - Bible's present owner. Among the rales are the following: "A stick of brimstone worn in the pocket is good for them 7 as has cramps. " * in tka nloAa word "A UnUMUHU ?/UV Hi ?u? J/?wvv nw*v the pane is, is beaatifol for the Bheumatiz. * "A basin of water grnel, with haff ' a quart of old ram in it, with lots of brown sugar is good for Gold in Head. "If yon have hiccup*, ptnch one of yoar wrists while you coant sixty or get somebody to skare you and make you jampe. "The earache?Pat onion in ear after it is well roasted. "The consumption?Eat as many peanuts as possible before going to bed." A druggist naturally prefers to sell a good article?he makes the | same profit as on an inferior preparation?hence they universally recommend Bamon's Liver Pills and Tonic Pellets. In this locality this "mild power" modern treatment has almost altogether superceded the old style drastic liver pills. A cure for constipation and biliousness without any griping, purging, sickening sensation is what people have been looking for. 25c. Harman's Bazaar. Trouble for the Proof Eeader. "If you think that I am going to pay you a penny for this advertisement of mine in your measly old j paper, you are mightily mistaken, my friend," said an irate business j ?o Via olommad dnwn ft fionv of UlOli no wv ?vr ? r>/ the Morning Rsveile on the counter in the business office of the paper. "What is the matter with the adYertisemenl?" asked the business manager of the paper as he came forward. "I'd ask what is the matter, if I were you! What I wrote was 4 A fresh invoice of dairy butter every day.' Will you just cast your eye on that ad. of mine and see what you have printed?'' The business manager "cast his eye" on the "ad." indicated, and looked for a place of safety when be read? "A fresh invoice of hairy butter every day!" To improve the appetite aDd strengthen the digestion, try a few doses of Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets. Mr. .T. H. Seitz, nf Detroit, Mich., says, "They restored my appetite when impaired, relieved me of a bloated feeling and causpd a pleasant and satisfactory movement of the bowels." There are people in this community who need just such a medicine. For sale by J. E. Kaufmann. Every box warranted. "She Can't Talk Back." It seems an old reversal of things in the parrot world where only the male bird is endowed with organs by which he can reproduce human speech, the female being wholly denied the power of such acquisition. "And what a harsh, unpleasant jargon he mah^s of it, too," remarked a woman customer when given this information by a fancier, adding, "Naturally!" Whereupon her escort retorted. "You may be sure tne others make up for it in parrot talk, and probably poor Jack has to her more than maDy of his human brothers in affliction." Then he remained quite silent while the woman bought an expensive male bird, extra volubility warranted, and ordered the bill Bent in his name. *?*?? Read the following from B. H. Johnson, Many Springe, Mo: "I have used Ramon's Liver Pills and Tonic* Pellets for biliousness, general debility and pains in the back and side, and they gave me epeedy and lasting relief." The entire Treatment, ten Liver Pills and fifteen Tonie Pellets cost only 25 cents. One a dose, course a cure; trial dose free. Harman'a Bazaar. Fish Flour in Norway. A great deal is done in Norway to improve and preserve the provisions produced in the country and to procure a market for them abroad. The fisheries represent one of Norway's chief industries, and quantities of fish are sold at very low rates, particularly during summer. One way in which these are utilized is by means of an invention whick quickly dries and pulverizes the flesh of fresh fish. The resulting product, called fish flour, is easy' to transport from one place to another and has great nutritive value. A new and profitable branch of industry might be established in America, by utilizing fish in this way. / * j A Gift of $1,000,000. Butte, Mont., Dec 2 ?A son was born to the wife of W. A Clark, Jr , laet night, winning the $1,000,000 gift that Senator W. A. Clark offered his sons and daughters 'a year ago for the first grandson presented him. The youngest daughter, Mrs. Morris, of New York, recently gave birth to a daughter. Senator Clark, who is in Paris, has been notified by cable of the arrival of the prize-winner. :.
