The good old Dispatch is a welcome visitor to my home. We have sown a large acreage iD wheat this year, have a good stand and it looks well. " * il V, The farmers are an aooui imuugu ( gathering their crops and the yield J is good. I think Mr. Reuben Bouknight is our model farmer. He told me a few days ago th^fc he made nine bales of cotton, and icorn enough to do him this year with one horse. That is good farming in the sand. < The Wateree school is flourishing with Mr. H V. Rish as teacher. Mr. Calvin Taylor has T>een our terpentine boy this year but the cold weather has taken the tar off of his heels until next spring. - - - T_ TV,,. I attended toe uQuareu o x/aj av Pond Branch cburcb last Saturday and enjoyed the exercises very mucb. After the bays and girls did credit to themselves, the congregation was delighted with a very interesting address by Hon. W. H. Sbarpe. It is good to be among good people. Lookeron. A great deal is done in Norway to improve and preserve the provisions produced in the country and to procure a market for them abroad. The fisheries represent one of Norway's chief industries, and quantities of fish are sold at very low rates, particularly during summer. One way in which these are utilized is by means of an invention whick quickly dries and pulverizes the flesh of fresh fish. The resulting product, called fish flour, is easy' to transport from one place to another and has great nutritive value. A new and profitable branch of industry might be established in America, by utilizing fish in this way. / * j A Gift of $1,000,000. Butte, Mont., Dec 2 ?A son was born to the wife of W. A Clark, Jr , laet night, winning the $1,000,000 gift that Senator W. A. Clark offered his sons and daughters 'a year ago for the first grandson presented him. The youngest daughter, Mrs. Morris, of New York, recently gave birth to a daughter. Senator Clark, who is in Paris, has been notified by cable of the arrival of the prize-winner. :.
