Mr. Boozer Crews of Spartanburg, I
visited his aunt, Mrs. Carrie Efird,
last week. Mr. Crews is on the
editorial staff of the' Spartanburg
Herald.
Quite a large nunber of youDg
gentlemen and ladies of the town and
county have left to pursue their
studies in the various colleges of the
State, and others are preparing to
leave.

Mrs. Mollie Gooding of Charlotte,
N. C, and Mrs. Lucy Crews of Spartanburg,
visited their mother, Mrs.
Eva Boozer, at the home of C. M.
Efird, last week.
The old bridge over factory pond
is very much in need of repairs. In
fact, it is in a dangerous condition
and persons driving or riding are
cautioned to be careful, it snouia
be repaired at once.
A new line of hats, trimmings and
notions just opened and for sale
cheap, at Mrs. Alice Timmone', lower
Main street. Call and see these

Rev. Mr. Hay will hold Episcopal
services in the chapel, in this place,
next Sunday morning at 11 o'clock
and in the evening at 8 o'clock. A
cordial invitation is extended to the
public to attend these services.
This is the time of year when the
farmer sells his cotton and other produce
and he therefore has money,
consequently we expect each subscriber,
who i9 in arrears to call
promptly and settle. We need the
money and need it now.

Hon. E. L. Asbiil, of Leesville,
who i3 in attendance upon court,
dropped in to see us Monday. Ed
is a clever young man, a bright and
rising young limb of the law and we
are always glad to shake his hand.

Hon. A. Frank Lever has gone to
try the old plow handles on the red
hills of Broad river and for the next
ten days his sonorious voice will be
heard echoing through the tangled
luxuriance of the river bottoms, as
he cries out gee haw and pulls the
bell cord across his mule's back.
Farm life still has its attractions for
Frank.
Mr. J. William Mitchell, one of
the best business men and farmers
in the Batesburg section, dropped
into see us while on a business trip
to this town Monday and we enjoyed
his pleasant and intelligent conversation
upon current topics. His ideas
on the political situation are sound
and in the main correct.
