A good many farmers without any corn have brought their hogs through the summer on sorghum, slops, etc. Now they can carry them right on to fattening without the use of much corn. Let them plant turnips, and \ ?. in Buch an abundance as to have enough to fatten all their hogs. If the ground is well prepared and there comes anything like favorable seasons, an acre in turnips should produce not less than 100 bushels, every bushel of whicb, we think, at least should be equivalent to a peck of corn for feeding to hogs. This being the case the value of the turnips would be at least 25 bushels of corn, which at present valuation of that foreign article would be more than $20. Women and Jewels. Jewels, candy, flowers, man?tbat is the order of a woman's preferences. Jewels form a magnet of mighty power to the average woman. Even tbat greatest of all jewels, health, is often ruined in the strenuous efforts to make or save the money to purchase them. If a woman will risk her health to get a coveted gem, then let her fortify herself against the inBiduous consequences of coughs, colds and bronchial affections by the regular use of Dr. Boschee's German Syrup. It will promptly arrest consumption in its early stages and heal the affected lungs and bronchial tubes and drive the dread disease from the system. It is not a cure-all, but it is a certain cure for coughs, colds and all bronchial troubles. You can get this reliable remedy at Kaufmann's drug store. Get Green's Special Almanac. "What's the matter with Oklahoma?" "The whisky out there is rotteD. It is as impossible to get a good driDk of whisky in Oklahoma as it would be to cultivate cotton in Ireland." "Why don't you buy good whisky somewhere else and take it out with you?" "Because I can't take enough at one time," was the rejoinder.
