The Rain Storm. Reports from the rain storm Sunday received so far indicate that it i was pretty severe in some sections of the county, and considerable damage to the growing crops was done by it. Reliable information says that in | some places wheat and oats were j beaten down, water ovei flowed terraces and cotton and corn were washed up. The extent of the damages cannot be estimated at this writing but we sincerely hope that the picture has been overdrawn and the damage is not near so great as at first supposed. "Backbone." The boy lived in Brookland and worked in the Columbia Mills. Mr. Barnie Quick died Saturday from a short attack of pneumonia. Mr. A D. Shull speaks of attending the re-union at Memphis, Tenn , next week. Mr. W. D. Dent and L M. Moak have been elected to represent Brookland Lodge K. of P., at the G-rand Lodge, which convention will be held this week in Spartanburg. Messrs. J. E. Addv and Hirvel Roof and their families were the guest of Mr. James Roof Saturday night and Sunday. Mr. Brigg Cayce died at his home last week. Mr. Cayce suffered from an attack of paralysis several weeks ago, which resulted in his death. Mr. Burno Frost, of this place, has accepted a position at the asylum in Columbia. Mr. A. J.
