T Glad to Meet the Boys. T x the Editor of the Dispatch: la It was my pleasure to attend the cc county campaign meeting held at tl Brookland on Saturday last. I had pi a longiDg to meet the candidates for b< the various offices, aDd the voters also, tl I wanted to see whether they moved ni around pleasantly and mingled with fc each other as of old. I was glad to ai note that everything appealed to be D moving along pleasantly, the candi- C dates in good humor and all conS- y< dent of success. I noticed some new ia faces among the candidates for county ai officers, and missed some who were st candidates when I used to go around ai the county as a candidate myself. I di could not but think of the years ago g' when I canvassed old Lexington as a m candidate for Clerk of Court, Treas tl urer, and then for State Senator, and S I almost felt a strong desire to be in ic the race again with the boys. I met fi a great many old friends whom I had ei not seen in a long time, which gave oj me great pleasure, and I think they ol were equally glad to see me. oi Mr. Editor, if I had the time to o< spare from my business I would go a] around with the candidates to all the te mfetings just to see all my old aI friends. I have the most grateful 11 feelings towards the people of my n old county of Lrxington for the many C( marks of confidence which I have re- w ceived at their hands, and I acknowl- d edge most cheerfully that it is to D them in a large measure that I owe a ?1 :n? RAUCH, /ho He Is and What He Is - What Do You Think? o tbe Editor of the Dispatch: Well, reader we will answer the tter clause of tbe above heading, jntainiog the question, by statiDg lat we are going to sustain our icuression and judgment by castiDgour allots for the person referred to at le approaching pi nary, whose ime is E Thomas R .uch, candidate >r Cierksbip for the Circuit Court, id who resides in that poriion of 'utch Fork embracing WTbite Rick, hapin and Billentine. He is, ts do know, a full blooded LexingtoDn, born and reared in this county, 3d has always followed in the footeps of his forefathers, whose fine 3d upright reputations could not be isclaimed by anybody. His two randfathers (on his father's and lothet's side) were the pioneers in ie establistnng 01 ljutnerism id outh Carolina and especially in Lexigton county, to which they faithllly and diligently devoted their aergies. No member of the family a the Riuch side ever applied for Bee except Mr. Thomas Rruch, and aly once previously by him, which :curred a few years ago. He was ppointed Notary Public about six?en j ears ago and has acceptably d faithfully filled that position, ever having made a mistake in conection with it. Mr. Rauch is fully Dmpetent to occupy the office to hich he aspires. He has previously rawn up deeds and other papers ow on record in the Clerk's tffice, nd the record books of that depart lent will prove this assertion, to hich no objection whatever was ever iad6. H s competency and ability )r the position will not now and has ever been questioned by any one ith whom he was equainted, and we ope and believe that he will receive be acknowledgment and support ol very L^xingtoniau who has the lightest knowledge of his abilities nd competency for the place. His onduct, honesty and integrity have ever been questioned nor doubted, nd no doubt never will be. His ge iiality and sociability always procurt or him numbers of friends and eup icrters wherever he may be associatec; pith men. Now, Mr. EJitor, our claim anc ecommendation is not, nor is intend d to be, a reflection on any other naD, but is simply a statement o acts as to tbe history and c ipability )f E Thomas Kiucb, who is tb< nan of our choice for the office o 21erk of the Circuit Court and woulv mdeubtedly prove to be the righ nan in the right place. Starting ii :ke lowest walks of ) fe, by his busi 2ess integrity and en rgy Mr. IvjucI aas acquired somewhat of a compt tency, though at the begiuning hav ing a widowed mother with thre3hildren to be looked after, which h dutifully did as son and brother, an for which he received the praise and r apprcv.il of his fellow Lr x ngtoniane. I Undoubtedly at the present time he Uas the approbation of all his as. q laintauces for his actions in tL: , past, and we believe they will be equaled by his conduct in the future. Adv't.
