Spectacular Suicide. Negro .1 limps in Uio River tit (ieorgetow 11 ? Intoxicated or Insane. Special to The State (-ioorgetown, .July 15 ?A negro man committed suicide t< day by jumping oil- tlie dock into ihe river. He was probably intoxicated or insane, Init the method and time selected by him for drowning himself made the deed rather spectacular. A steamer load of negro excursionists was just leaving the dock when this mttn, who held a walking stick in his hand, was seen to leap into the river. He apparently made no attempt to swim, hut rose three times, each time brandishing the cane in the air, as if saluting someone on the steamer. At lenglh he disnppented, but for a full minute afterwards the end of the cane was raised above the surface. Men in a but reached the spot whete the negro sank too late to save him, and his body has not yet been found. 11. lj. (). A Reduction Made. Hoard Reduces Assessment cf l'acolet and Clifton Mills.
