Notice to Road Overseers. i The public roads of the county are in bad condition; due in part to weather conditions, but princi- 1 pally to want of work. I call upon all overseers who have net worked their roads, to work them at once, before the farmers begin the preparation of their lands for j planting. Considerations of duty and economy prompt me to say a word in regard to the universal practice prevailing in the county of building and repairing ground bridges and tilling uiud holes at the expense of the county. It is the duty of the overseers when wi.iking sections 111 which thcie ( are bridges to repair and keep | them in order, when ihey are of I SlK'll (a.hlirnni(*r ??s not lit l*? Itnirn to he given out under contract, and can conveniently he dono by the road hand-!. The county will pay for all m*tei ial and hauling same, but the overseers should repair or build them when necessary. This item iuvolves an expenditure of no small amount during the run of the)ear. If thete are any sections needing overseers, they will he app dated, if reported to this otlice. L. .1. Perry, County Supervisor. To Curt- A I hi in One */// Take Laxative Bromo Quinine tablets. There have been very few Bociul events but the few that thero were charming. A domestic science meeting given by that very progressive organization, the Friday Afternoon Book club, was held at the residence of Mrs. Luroy Springs last Friday afternoon. After several minutes of pleasant conversation, the president announced tl.o object of the meeting and subjects to Le read, which were as follows: 'l'U~ ? * -? * ? no emuimi ion or uie Home ? Mrs. Wnddy C. Thomson. The Culinary Department, the Preparation of Breads and Meats ? Mrs. Ira 15. Jones. The Raising and Training of r> c? Children ? Mrs. Ernest Moore. These papers were able and instructive and reflected much credit or the authors. The delightful luncheon of three courses was daintly served at small tables in the spacious dining room, which was darkened and lighted with softly shaded candles. The unique placo cards with suggestive sketches and ap propriate quotations wore tied with the club colors. The occision was decidedly one of the most enjoyable social events of the season. Mrs. A.
