The wagon turned over and he was caught under the body but managed to get out. Another negro, who was standing on the bank jumped in and cut tho mule loose and it swam ashore. Tho negro found bis wagon do^vn the creek tho next morning but was unable to tind his pocket book which he lost while*in the water. ?The State convention of the Baptist denomination in South Carolina will meet in Greenville this year, the opening session beheld next Tuesday at 8 p. m. The convention rermen will be preached by the Rev. W. S. Dorset 01 the Rev. C. ?. Burts. The Rev. D. W. Key is the president of the convention and the secretaries are C. P. Ervin and V. I* Mas. ters.
