A M-r\mug luo filling U1 llio court Monday Judge Buchanan culled the attention of tho grand jury to the fact that the appearance of tho court house was uot very creditable to tho county, whereupen tho grand jury made a thorough inspection of tho building yesterday and in its report yesterday afternoon, made the following timely recommendation: " ?Ve rccoin mend that the county Supervisor have the court house examined as to safety of the building and ascertain the approximate cost of putting the building, both inside and out in first class condition and report to this body at tho next term of tho court/' Further, the grand jury condemned the overhead bridge at Pleasant Hill and asks tho Railroad authorities to see after its condition at once. It also had something to say about working the public roads, and made several presentments of parties for carrying concealed weapons, shooting on public highways etc. The report was. mudo too late for its publication in full in this issue. On Sunday morning last he attempted an assault on a Miss Staines near Van Wyck, canting out of a body of woods as she was passing along the highway and running after n o her some distance with an open knife.
