Beaumont, Tex.,.May 30.-The safe of the treasurer of Hardin county, at Kountze, 25 miles north of here, was blown by burglars last night arid all the county raonty stolen. The exact amount is not known. The burglars and citizens ua'i a cattle at Silshee, tin miles east at daylight. One burglar was wounded hut all escaped into a big thicket. The sheriff of this county, with bloodhounds, left *for tlio scene on an early train. Winthrep College Scholarships And Entrance Examinations. The exposition opened on the 1st of December and the six months of its existence have made a very brilliant season for Char lefeton. The lirst half of the time was not very prosperous for the fair, but during the last three months crowds have visited it. It is stated the entire enterprise will be n loss financially and the stockholders will receive none of their subscriptions back. Some loss will probably fall on the bondholders and there are a fe.v outstanding debts, though the showing in this respect is much better than was predicted. Otherwise the success of the exposition is unquestioned. Tno last day was observed as Charleston Day and the attendance was large.
