The little fellow has been in ill health since the family moved here from South Carolina, something over a year ago and his life was despaired of several weeks ago. Fitzpatrick. 1 Death ef Mr Chapman Kstridge < Mr. Chap Estridge, an aged and respected citizen of this county, 1 after lingering for a year or more 1 from a stroke of paralysis, died at the home of his son, Mr. Wai 1 Estridge, near Creek, about 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Estridge was about 77 years of age, and up to a few years age < was an active energetic hard- * working man. Quiet, peaceful, 1 honest, lawabiding, he made a geod citizen, and his example in 1 many particulars was worthy of ' emulation. He served in the 1 Confederate war and made a good 1 soldier. Floyd of the town ol Kershaw, whose critical illness was mentioned in The Ledger last week, has crossed over the River. The end came quietly and peace fullv last Saturday evoniug. Mr. Floyd was in his (J8th year. hav. iug been born Nov. 9, 1834. He was a native of North Carolina but has lived in this ceunty since childhood. He was married in 1753 to Miss Sarah Ervin, a daughter of the late Dr. Ervin, and his widow and six children survive him. They are Messrs. Robert S., and C. O. Floyd of Kershaw, Mrs. B. A. Hilton, Mrs. ?. P. Primmnx U? rA T? *i iiuiu^ei, to in. i/. r. .Montgomery and Mrs. J. B. Sims. Mr. Floyd was of commanding appearance, dignified bearing, ol strong intellect, and was perhaps one oj the best informed men in the county. He served in the Confederate war and since has held several appointive effices, having served as U. S. Commissioner and having been at on? time County Supervisor of Reg* istration. For the peat ten yeare be has been engaged in the Insurance business at Kershaw. Hit remains were interred Sunday in the town cemetery at Kershaw after funeral services by the Rev. Very Sad Death of a Young Lady The death ef Miss Annie Goods af Yerk county, which occurred of lockjaw, last Friday night, at the heme of her cousin, Mrs J. A. Hilton, at Kershaw, whom she was visiting, was indeed very sad. ihe was about 18 years ef age, unliable, attractive and very popular with her friends. She had accepted a position at Reek Hill and bad gone to Kershaw to spend a week or so with her relative before reporting'for duty at Rock Hill which she was to do next Monday. Compulsory vaccination being in teree in that city and not wishing to lose any time from tier duties, she insisted on Dr. Brasington vaccinating her at Kershaw thai her arm might get well before she went to Rock Hill. The following day alter she was vaccinated her jaws seemed strongly affected and she at ouce became alarmed, saying that a voung man of hei acquaintance who hrd been aimi larly affected after vaccination, had died in a few days of lock jaw. At the first symptoms th? physician was summoned, an? although everything was don< that could bo, at the end of tin third day the young lady's sweei spirit left its mortal tenement, anc winged its way on high. Hei remains were taken to her home near Sharon, in York county, 01 Saturday, for interment. Mr Hilton accompanied the iemains.
