Cage Lee, a colored carpenter liring about a mile South ef town, died Sunday night, baring taken suddenly ill about 2 o'clock Sunday morning. Last August Cage was shot in the wrist and cut sereral times in the Hack in a difficulty with another negro in Kershaw county. The negro who wounded hit* is now in the Camden jail awaiting trial for aseanit and t attery with intent to kill. Cage, it seems, thought hietroub Us cam* from bib wounds and said that the pain started in his arm where the bullet waa and ran up te bia aheulder, then to his back and hefere death all over his body, hence hia people wanted an in quest. After hearing the state, ments ef witnesses, the jury, composed of 2 white men and If negroes, failed te he unanimous in their opinion. The two white jurors and fire of the negroes signed a verdict in accordance with the opinion of the physieian, Dr. Fester, who conducted tho autopsy, that Cag? died from natural causes, probably heart disease, while the other live held out that he died frem the wouuds received in the difficulty. The wounde healed up shottly after they were received and it is hardly probable they could have caused his d^ath. We understand that tha road is U? he roek ballasted and made second to none in the South, lren bridges with oriek abutments laid in cement have already been put across the largest streams on the line.
