Upon investigation it was found that Jonas Pratt, the night > watchman at the depot, had had t a finger in tho stealing and that he and ihe Maekey negro were ia p together in the stealing business. ? Richard*, died at bia homo, near Liberty Hill,' last Sunday morning of cerebral binds orrhage. His death was Tory unexpected. It is reported that the excitement occasioned by hie residence accidentally catching afire the day before was the cause of his death. Dr. R., was a very preniinent young physician and was assistant clerk of the House of Representations and was a very competent and painstaking officer. Taylors and a little negro boy about bis age, went into the woods with an axe to try their hand chopping down a tree. Sallie Bell Tillman, wife of our aged and esteemed friend, Mr. John Lee Tillman, ef Van Wyck. Her death occurred last Sunday morning shortly after 10 o'clock. She had been a sufferer for soma months and for aevaral week*' hnpew for her recovery hare scarcely been entertained She w?<s in the 78th year of her age, and leaves surviving her her husband and six children, viz: E. D Tillman, J. L. Tillman, Jr., J Wren Tillman, M. M. Tillman. Mrs. B. Cunningham and Mr*. J. M. Y(?der, all ef this ceuuty. She was a member of the Methodic church and was an excellent, christian lady. Her remains were interred at Van Wyck cemetery on Monday afternoen, after funeral services conducted bv Rev. J. E. Strickland.
