The music of the wedding march appears to be the popular melody in Charlotte this week. Last night one of the most pietucsque weddings that Charlotte has witnessed was solemnized at Trxon Street Methodist church, j when Miss Lena Heath, daughter: of Mr. li D Heath, became the: wife of .Judge Charles DePass .Joncs, of Lancaster, S. C. The ! church was tilled, long before 7 j o'clock, the hour fixed for the ceremony. The decorations, en* circling the altar, consisted of stately palms and ferns, t hat t runsformed the pidpit surroundings into a nuptial bower. The familiar but majestic music of I he wedding march, played by Miss Addie Williams, announced : the approach of the bridal party. The ushers, who were very faithful at their post of duty, were Messrs. John Crawford, Reece \N illiams, and Raul McCorkle, of ! Lancasier S C., and Dr. B J j Witherspoon and Mr. Baxter Ross of Charlotte. The attendants who followed J were Miss Fan Bnrwell an \ Mr. Robert A Mayer; Miss Katharine Jordan and Mr. Rucker Ford, of Augusta; Miss Edith Stetsoi., of ??~ Macon, ann Mr. M C Heath, of Columbia, S C.; Miss Ella May Williams, of Macon, and Mr. I Frunk .Vv nes; Miss Lola Heath and Mr. C W Heath, of Kershaw, i b C; Miss Ella McAden and Mr. Ilervey Witberspoon, of Lancastor:Miss Marv Mayer, first brides- [ maid, and Mr. Ira Dunlap, of Rock Hill, S C. The gowns of the bridesmaids J were airy and hern tiled comhina- I I tiona of white organdie and Valenciennes lace, that formed a snowy j contrast to the background of ... palms. Each bridesmaid carried I a bouquet of while carnations, tie! with amber satin ribbon. The tiny, curly haired ring girl was Miss Bennetta Heath, who bore, the golden wedding ring on a pillow of white satin. M,.^ \ 1 '< u i'uin-j uiitiit; ?i youin* j fill, hut dignified, flame of honor, i and then came Miss Ada Heath, i the bride's sister, who, in a gown of pale yellow, was a most admired , maid of honor. The groom was attended by Mr. ,1 11 Marion, of Chester, ? C. The bride passeed up the aisle, | escorted by her father and Hov. Dr. II F Crietzberg, pastor of the! chord, recited the solemn service that joined two young lives. Beautifully attired, in a gown 1 whose satin folds wore softened j by the sweeping reil of tulle, which was clasped to her dark ] hair by a pearl and diamond sun* burst, the bride, in all the charm ! of her grace and daint , brunette I i . beauty, made an attractive picture j I of Southern girlhood. A bouquet i of exquisite lillies of the valley ] added its fragrant finish to the I rarely artistic costume. H??r i Charlotte friends, whose name is legion, lind it difficult to part with one who has always boon un admired and loved member in tho M society of the city. The bride < will be sadly missed, but the ' social life of Lancaster will, no doubt, be brightened by her gracious influence. The groom has already attained | distinction in the legal world u i sphere in which he shines by hereditary right, us he is u son of Judgo Ira Jones, of the Supreme Court of South Carolina. He has , created a most favorable impression in Charlotte society, and success seems to have marked him for her own. ( The wedding gifts were rarely beautiful and of great variety, although silver and cut g at-s were 1 in glittering prounm nee. The honeymoon is to he spent in New York, and the bride and groom left on the 0 o'clock train. The l>ri le's traveling costume was a tailor-made gown of castor cloth, lined with white brocaded satin, and iho cloak was of black silk, lined with pearl gray. THE RECEPTION. The reception given by the parents of the bride at the rooms of tko Manufacturers' Club was most delightful in every respect The guests came in such numbers as to till the rooms, and a happier assemblage it would lie well nigh impossible to find. (iuests from Colombia I .?irw>nii~ ! tor, Chester and other points in . South Carolina, us well as many from the surrounding country in North Caro'inu were among the number. Amoing the guests from I out of town were .1 udgolra B Jones ' and Mrs Jones, of Lancaster, the father and mother of the groom. The elegant dining room, where the r< freshments were served, was daintily arranged for the comfort and pleasure of the guests. Bride's roses and ferns were artistically combined and produced a most . beautiful effect. ( Each small table placed about | the room was a pleasing study, rivalling even the center table, i which had boon honoied us the board for the bridal party. This was, of course, the center of attraction, and skdl and taste had combined to present a delightful , i a. r ^ i ... rrmiic. rerns neni gracelully from the chandelier above, and whining white satin rihhons caught among the ferns, decended to the corners of the tahle, dropping over the tal! cut glass vase holding the bride's roses and th? twinkling ( candelabra all white and silver. Mystery of a Murder At Lynn, Mass., Kccalls the Great ' "Trunk Tragedy1' in 1872. ' i Lynn, Mass., Oct 17?That gient "trunk tragedy" as it was known through all New England way back in 1*72 when the mutilated body of Jennie Clark was found wedged into a trunk which had been picked up in the Angus river, was in some resnects no more mysterious than the murder whicn was revealed today l>v ttie finding of a man's body, decapitated and denuded of the limbs, in a gunny sack in (ilenuiore pound. The police tonight are inc lined to the belief that (ieorge i R, Bally has been murdered and ' have taken under arrest .John C f . Best, 25 years of age, a farm hand, employed on the estate of which the supposed victim of the murderer was caretaker. The police in searching the farm house where the men live, found in the I barn collar an axe which lane blood stains but it is not certain Lhey are of human blood, some stains on a window sill, and on a piece of bardboard in a room of the house. Bailey disappeared on Oct H. No one knew the reason tint there were persons who sup- ' posed that he followed his wife to ( Wiscastle, Maine, she having left the house, it is asserted, becMU-e of a disagreement. It is now claimed that the woman, known as Mrs. Bailey, was not his wife, that although Bailey was married, his wife's whereabouts are unknown. The woman is said to he Miss Susie Young and she was the housekeeper. With these clues . the police are trying to solve the mystery of the murder. The larwo dispensary profits is indisputable proof that the dispensary system does not materially reduce the sale of liquor. Mother and Baby Dead.
