Georgetown, October I?The Georcretowu race riot doea not materialize, at least it looks so up to midnight. The trouble arose Saturday evening when J (', Scurry, a deputy sheriff, went into a barber shop to collect delinquent taxes frotu a negro l>arbcr, John Brownfield. A dispute areno and words came to blows. In the scutlle that followed Scurry's pistol dropped from Ins pocket and was snapped up by the negro, (Brownfield), who, in rapid succession, fired lire shots nt Scurry, each taking effect in some part of his body. The negro* then Hod hut wag captured by a policeman and placed in jail. Scurry died at 10 o'clock Sunday morning. Excitement ran bigh, for it was considered coldblooded murder. The coroner's jury wag composed of white men.
