lingered on the picnic grounds

twilight zephyrs, with Lima's
mild rays witnessing the cooing j
words of lovesick beaux and belles
on their homeward journey, which !
ended in adding few acres to

A number of our neighbors

catches, plenty of fish soup anil a
good time generally.

a protracted meeting at Van Wyek,
church this week, and will con

have thus far been small
hut very attentive, with increasing
interest and much good is expected
from this meeting.
Cedar Camp, W O W of Van
Wyck, will give their annual picnic
next Thursday, Aug 23d, at

place. The place selected, is a
good one in a beautiful grove,
near plenty of good water. They

Last Wednesday was county
campaign day for Waxbaw township
at Van Wyck. A hoot, one
hundred and fifty men, women
and children came out to see and
hear the candidates speak. There
were twenty five candidates present,
all except Mr. C C Horton
of Kershaw, for coroner, and
John A Cook, for auditor, who is
unahlo to attend the county can
vass on account of having been
confined to his home by a six weeks
spell of fever. He sent a letter
to be read by the chairman to the
voters. J M Yoder, township
chairman, presided and introduced
each candidote for the respective
otlices. lie begun with coroner
and ended with representative.
Twenty minutes were allowed
each candidate for representative,
and smaller olliees no limit. Speak'
in^ hegan at ten o'clock, the tunc
taken tip by the candidates for
the smaller olliees in presenting
their various claims to the office,
was two hours and three minutes.
The meeting then adjourned for
dinner, which was placed on 11
table prepared for tiro occasion
and soon dispatched hv the hungry
chairman, candidates and tin ir
hearers. After an hour pleasantly
