A large number of delegates composing the executive and business com i mittees appointed at the State convention of the Georgia Cotton i Growers' Protective association held nt Macon, May 21, met today in conference at the chain her ' of commerce rooms in this city. 1 The committees were clothed with full power to outline and adopt plans for the future wo k of the i association hum 10 place i no niove1 inent en an active business footing. Tlio plan of organization l and meibod of carrying on the ; work, together with constitution and by laws for government of the association, submitted by President C Harvie Jordan, were adopted after lengthy discussion of several plans submitted along the same lino. Active steps will be at once taken to secure local organizations in every cotton growing county in the State, i The president was authorized to proceed, by correspondence with head officials in other States, to secure the organization ? f the entire cotton belt by the middle of August. Other Statos will be asked to unite with Georgia in the movement and establish a central bureau in this State, which will exorcise a general superintendence over all tho different State bureaus. A committee of tivo members of the executive committee with President Jordan as chairman was appointed to ton er with the State Bankers association, which meets at Lithia Springs, June 13, to secure the formation of a plan on the part of State banks for meet1 ing tho demand of tho producers I ntxt season in regard to loans on i _ " cotton in storage.' The movement of tho cotton growers to perfect a plau by which the cotton crop of the south can bo marketed during ti longer period of time, thereby forcing a | belter price for the raw material i before the staple leaves tho farm* i or\? hands is creating great enthusiasm throughout the cotton 1 belt. The plans adopted today arc considered feasible, practical and capable of accomplishment by the bankers and business men gonerady. Other States in the cotton belt have been already heard from, giving Assurances of hearty co operation in the move j mont, and preparations are now being made for calling conventions and perfecting a system of organization similar to the one in Georgia.
