L VAN WYCK ITEMS. ^ The decline in the price of cot- ^ ton hus given some of our cotton men und cotton misers a \voe-l?oirono exoression. Some <?f the ? happy smiles of a week ago, have e been chilled by exploded air castles in the loss of anticipated f pains in eipht cent cotton. The c greater part of the cotton here is not poinp on market. There has been very little shipped this season. Cotton seed are bringing a good price and are being sold '> freely. Eighteen ceuts per bush el mores them. Some of the cotton buyers of 1 Waxhaw, who have cotton here | are having it hauled by wagons as they can get it moved by teams t cheaper than paying loca' freight * on the railroad. 1 There are a good many cross ties heing placed on the right of | way along the G C & N K R. The c price has advanced to 31 cants x per tie. 1 Some of our farmers are busy | sowing oats. They have a fine ? season and good weather for this important work. There would 1 be more oats put in this full hut * seed oats are scarce and biger ^ than of other years, which causes ,, a <r<?c?<1 many to delay sowing for c the present. There will be very g little wheat sowed. J1 The cotton crop is about picked ^ and farmers are ready to gather their corn and they will be for- r tunate if they can get it housed s before wet weather sets in. The f crop on the low lands is the best for several years. ^ We notice that a good many ( schools have suspended during f the busv gathering season, as a number of pupils would have to ^ stop and help to save the crop. Van Wyck school is still moving * on and its eight or ton scholars | h have good elbow room these days. \ t< As we announced some time ? ago wedding bells would ring . n about \ an W yck in the near future. They pealed forth last r Wednesday and proclaimed the " marriage of Mr Geo il Griffin to Miss Alice Plyler, daughter of Mr T W Plyler, at his home, Oct 11th. at p m in the presence of a few relatives and friends. 'I'ho ceremony was performed by ltev W W Itatchford. We extend to the happy young couple our con gratulations and best wishes for a smooth sail over life's tempestu- ^ oijs seas. Madam Humor says there are othei couples badly tangled in Cupid's net and the bells will ring soon again. Our observa* J. tions lead us to believe it, and will ,j, report tho happy occurrences at |Jl tho proper time. ?? opjiMUS. _ Ml * * ? or Notice to I>el?tors of \V <>ansoii w hi Notes, accounts and other in- of debtedness to me were not included in the sale of my mercantile J1* business to Heath Springs & Co., k and all parties indebted to me, either by note, account or other- f>r wise, must come forward and set- <" tie at once.
