Death of a Prominent Negro.
Albany, Ga., May 10?Frank
, W McCarthy, one of the most
prominent negroes in Southwest
Georgia, died at his home in this
city last night. His funeral oci

by an immense concourse of both
whites and blacks. For the first
time in the history of Albany, a
> town of 8,000 inhabitants, every

honor of a negro, no busiuess being
transacted while the funeral
was in progress. McCarthy never

Wm. Murphy became involved

' Clark over a bill which Dr. Mur'
phv claimed owed him. The dis,
puto became heated and a tight

1 knife, and slashed Dr. Murphy,

I rushed to the scene of the killing

began a duel to settle the matter.
