Wagon load after wagon load of cotton has been coming in to I Watts' gins anil a good many wagons hauling cotton seed for sale. Our merchants are giving the highest market juice for them and are getting good ijuautities for the mills. 8ixt\ ball's of cot ton were sold here la^t week that the purchasers had drave l over to Springdell, mile- n:d -hipped by thet) 1? This committee consisted of ten young ladies appointed by the pastor. Rev Henry Stokes. He offered as a premium, a tine two dollar bible to the one who would collect and turn over to him the most cash. The committee reported Seventy Nine Hollars collected and received the thanks aud congratulations of the pastor for their faithful work. The amounts reported were from one dollar and sevenly-tivo cents to thirty one dollars, the greater amount was reported by Miss Sue Yoder, who received the premium bible. Dr J Douglas Nisbet, ot New York was present and heard the report and generously gave his check for twenty five dollars without any solicitation, which the pastor, and his many friends here greatly appreciate. This gift with the other collections will enable thecommittee to finish the church nicely. The congregation at Van Wyck church last Sunday was large, at tentive and appreciative and heard a tine sermon, delivered by the pastor Kev Henry Stokes. We have heard many who wore present say it was the best sermon they have ever heard the pastor preach, and Optiraus fully agrees with them, it hit him all along the line. Misses Sugar Tillman and Sue Yodcr are at Hlackstocks attending tho marriage of Miss Fannie Thorn and Drllayne. Miss Thorn is a sister of the Misses Thorn who taught the Van Wyck school and has many friends here. Miss Josie McCain of Atlanta has returned to Van Wyck to spend some time with her sister | M rs Williamson. She will attend. Van Wyck school this sessiou.
