This Winter?Several Vacancies| ' to he Filled? The Outlook. | I i I The State. With this year the terms of several of the members of the ju- 1 diciary of the State expire. Those who shall retire from tho bench 1 unless tho legislature shall see tit ( to reelect them are Chief Justice I Mclver of the State supreme * court, and these circuit judges: ' Judge Witherspoon of the Sixth circuit, Judge I tenet of the First ' circuit, Judge Buchanan of tho J' Third circuit and Judge Watts of 1 the Fourth circuit. Alroadv there is much talk in * 1 political circles as to who w'll be! cand dates for these places on the , bench, and it is noteworthy that all the circuit judges, save Judge i Witherspoon, whose terms expire \ are those who changed their places' of residence in order to be eligible when the judiciary was reorganized. ' i 1 So far as Chief Justice Mclver is concerned, no one is yet named as a candidate to oppose him. It j is generally thought that he will 1 be reelected. I , Judge Witherspoon announced j some time ago that he will retire , and would not stand for reelection. 1 Mr (1 W Gage of the Chester bar j it is thought will succeed him, I ' . * though Mr I) E Finley of York t and cx Solicitor J E McDonald of j Winnaboro, are mentioned as possible candidates. As to the other vacancies, it is the general J opinion that thero will he several candidates soon announced. From , what can be heard, it is expected that Judge Benet, Watts and Bu- \ chanun will have opposition.
