The law exenpta from military service ail phyaciaus over the age of '30 years, who have been seven >eais iu the practice. In a Circular issued from the Conscript Depart meat of South Carolina, the law was construed ta apply only to physicians who had been regularly licensed. A practicing physician io this Diatrict, who had never received a diploma from a medical college, but who was over thirty sears of aire mid hud hepn ninru limn uven yearn in the practice, made application for exemption to the local Enrolling Officer ? The latter, acting under instructions con taiced in the Circular above mentioned, de? cided that the applicant was not entitled to exemption. From this decision an appeal was sent up upon the ground that it wan not in accordance with the law. The (Secretary of Wur decided thai the exception was well taken, and that the facta as to age and length ol lime in regular practice were sufficient to entitle the applicant to exemption under the Act of Congress.
