CROCKETT. > Fob. 22, I860. Scrofula, or King's Evil, is a con titutional disease, a corruption of the blood, by which this *Suid becomes viliutcd, weak, and poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole bo-tv, an I may burst out in disease on ativ part of it. No organ is fre<* from its attacks, nor is there one which it rosy not destroy. 1 lie scrotulo'r* taint \* virion Iv caused by mercurial tli lour living, dsordeii.il or unhealthy food, impure lilt, tii'li and liltliy habits, the tlcnro-sing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. Whatever be its oii^ia, it i.- hereditary in the constitution, descending " from parents to children unto the third tuid fourth g iteration; " indeed, it seems to be the rod of liiui who says, "I "'ill visit the iniquities of the fathers upou their children." Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous mutter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organ-, is termed tubercles; in the glands, spellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, denrcssem the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they liavc fur less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases; consequently vast numbers perish by disorders which^althoueh not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, bruin, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous ; their persons are invaded bv this lurking infection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system we must renovate the blood by on alterative medicine, and invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in AYER'S Compound Extract of Sarsnparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this everywhere prevailing and fatal maladv. It is combined from the most active remedial* that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the *v?tem from its destructive consequences, llcncc it should be employed for the cure of not #nly Scrofula, but also those other affections which arise from it, such as Ekcftivk and Skin Diseases, St. Anthont's Firf, Roc.e, or F.rys'pelas, Pimpi.rs, Pvstci.es, Bi.otches, Plains and Roils,Tumors, Tp.tteb and Salt Rheum, Scald IIkao, Ringworm, 1 Rheumatism, Syphilitic and MercurialDis- j eases. Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Dehility, and, I indeed, all Complaints arisiko from Vitia- j ted or Impvhk Blood. The popular belief , in impurity of the blootl " is founded in truth, i for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The I particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsaparillu is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health it impossible in contaminated constitutions. Ayer's Cathartic Pills, rOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIC, are so composed that disease within the range of j their action can rarely withstand or evade them. I their nenotratinu nroneriir* nn,l and invigorate every portion of the human organ- j Urn, correcting ita diseased action, and restoring i its healthy vitalities*. Am a consequence of these | properties, the invalid who is bowed down with i nain o'physical debility is astonish* d to find h:i I health or energy restored by a remedy at once * aitunle ana inviiiug. Not only do they cure the cTery-day romnlainta of every body, but also many formidable and dangerous disease*. The agent below named U pleased to furnish gratia my American Almanac, containing certificates of their cure* and direction* for their use in the following complaint*: Costivenet j, Heart Jum, Headache arising from disordered | Stomach, Xnusea, Indigestion, I'atn in and Slorind \ Inaction of the Houels, Flatulency, Lots of Appe- 1 titr. Jaundice, and other kindred complaint*, ! arising from a low state of the body or obstruction { of it* function*. Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, ro& tub kani> ci'be or Cough*, Colds, Influenza, Iloararaeaa, Croup, Ilrouchiti*, In* ipicnt Consuinp* | tion, and Tor the urliff or Consumptive j Patient* in advanced stages of the disease. So wide is the field of its usefulness and so numerous are (he coses of its cures, that almost every section of country abounds in persons publicly known, who have been restored from alarming Sna even desperate diseases of the lungs by its use. When once tried, its superiority over every Other medicine of its kind is too apparent to etenne Observation, and where it* virtues arc known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ for the distressing arid dangerous affection* of the pulmonsry organs that are incident to our climate. While many inferior remedies thrust ution the community have failed and been discarded, this has gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the sffiicted they can never forget, snd produced cures too numerous and too remarkable to ho forgotten. In view of the fatv that ever* member of the human family in more or less subjected to some of the al>ovo complaints, besides innumerable other condition- in life, w hich, by the assistance of a little knowledge or exercise of common sense, they may be able so to regulate their habits of diet, and with the assistance of a good tonic, secure permanent he.t '.h. In order to accomplish this desired object, the true course to pursue is, certainly, that which will lirodueea natural state of things at tho least liar ird of vital strength and life ; for tin* end Dr. Hostetter has introduced to this country * preparation called llOSTETTER'S ST6maCH HITTERS, which at this day in not a new medicine, but one that has "been tried for years, giving satisfaction to all who have used it. The Bitters operate powerfully u;?on the stomach, bowels and liver, restoring them to a healthy and vigorous action, and thus by the si mole process of strengthening nature, enable tlie system to triumph over disease. Diarrhoea, dysentery or flux, so generally contracted oy uew settlers, and caused principally by the change of frater and diet, will be speedily regulated by a brief use of this preparation. Dyspepsia, n disease which is probably more prevalent when taken in all its various forms, than any other; the cause of which may always he attributed to derangements of the digestive organs, can be cured without fail by using IlOTKTTKirS STOMACH HITTKI:S as per directions on the Isittle. For this- disease every physician will ycpoijira* nJ Bitten of some Kind, then why not use an article known to lie infallible ? Every country have their Hitter* ns a preventive of disease, and strengthening of the system in general, and among tJiein nil there ix not to Is- found a more healthy p i. lo than the Germans, from whom tin's preparation emanated, based upon scientific experim nts which has attended to advance the ,|, itinv of this great preparation in thv niedie.il xc ile of science. Further, any of the shirt slated diseases can not lie contracted when exposed la any ordinary conditions producing them, if th* Dittoes are u?ed at per directions. I.adli* should by all means try this remedy for all cases of debility, and l?fore so doing, ask your physician, who, if he is acquainted with Uie virtues of the Bitters, will recommend their use in all cases of weakness.
