JJ ll'liicli convtvu the remedies to the cavities ' ii tlie longs, through the uir passages, mnl com- cl, ing in direct conflict with the disease, neutralizes the tubercular matter, allays the cough, can- U( sea .1 free and easy expectoration, heals the j Htl lungs, purities the blood, imparts renewed vital- u| ity to the nervous system giving that tone and et.ergy so indispensable for the restoration of |lt health. To be able to state confidently tlint Consumption is rumble by inhalation, is to me a source ol unalloyed pleasure. It is as much i under the control of uicdical treatment as any tv other formidable disease; ninety out of every t| hundred cases can be cured ill the first stages, c; and fitly percent in the second; but in thethird p stage it is impossible to suvc more than live per cent, lor the lungs are so cut up by the disease t., as to bid defiance to medical skill. Kvcn, how- a, ever, in the last stages, Inhalation alfords cxtsaoidiiiury relief to the sulVering attending this fcnriul scourge, which annually destroys ninety- ^ five thousand persons in the United States nlonc ; and a correct calculation shows that of the pres. : cut population ot the earth, eighty millions are destined to fill the Consumptive's grave. Truly the quiver of death has no arrow so fa. ( tal as Consumption. In all ages it has been the great enemy of life, for it spares neither age nor sex, but sweeps oil alike the brave, the beautiful the graceful and the gifted. Jlv the help ol that Supreme Doing from w liotn comcth every | good and pcifcct gilt, i am ciiuhlcti to offer to .l; the aHhctcil a permanent and speedy cure in ! (l Consumption. The first cause of tubercles is j from impure blood, nod the immediate effect 1 ^ produced by their deposition in the lungs is to prevent the free admission of air into the uncoils, which causes a weakened vitality through the entire system. Then suicly it is more ra- 1 r, tionnl to expect greater gooil from medicines ( ^ entering the cavities of the lungs than from ^ those administered through the stomach ; the | patient will always find the lungs free and the \ lucatliing easy, alter inhaling remedies. Thus, Inhalation is u local remedy, nevertheless it nets '| constitutionally, ami with more power noil cor- | \\ laiuty thuu remedies administered hv the stoinueh. To prove the powerful and direct iliHtletice ol this mode ol administration, chloroform I inhaled wlil entirely destroy sensibility in a few '' mmutes, paralysing the entire nervous system, ' so that a limh may be iimpiituted without the U slightest pain; inhaling the ordinary limiting it gas will destroy life in u few hours. ni The inhalation of ammonia nil rouse the ! n system when tainting or apparently dead. The 1 j ; odor ol many ol the medicines is perceptible |( in lite skin a tear minutes alter being inhaled, ; , and may he immediately detected in the hiood. A eonvincing prool of the constitutional cllccls of inhalation, is the luct that sickness is always produced by breathing loul air?is tins pot positive evidence that pioper remedies, carefully " prepared and judiciously administered through ; '1 the lungs should produce the happiest results v : < Dining eighteen years |iraetice many thousands 1 n sulfctiiig fiom diseases ot the lungs and throat, I have been under niv care, anil 1 have effected ' many remarkable cures, even alter the sulleretn ! had been pronounced in the last stages, which j ( hilly satisfies me that consumption is no longer i a fatal disease.
