April 28th, 1864. Mr. Wolfe, one of the counsel for the defence, in a card, denies having used the Inngunge attributed to hint. The Louisville Times of Sunday. gives the follow ing uccount of the meeting: The meeting at tho Court House Inst nirht was very uproarious. A vnstetowd nsx|mbled, many of them doubtless attracted by mere motives of curiosity. The large loom in tho house, nnd the yard, nnd the street in front were filled with people. Resolutions ' were passed both insido nnd outside of the Court /fouse. They were highly denunciatory of tho Hardin 'County Jury, nnd ) inflnmatory in their chnrncter. Mr. G'rittcntenden was requested to resign his seat in tho Senate of the United States, nnd Mr. Wolf his, in the Senate of Kentucky.? Both these gentleman will doubtless pay ,|H? ?- ? -? iv-iynt vo wicse pome invitation*. 11 the demonstration li. d stopped there it would Nvould hnve been harmless, iind the gentlctnen burnt in cfliev, hnvo considered in a viry silly, but ridiculous joke. But the passions aroused could not be satisfied with'out tho destruction of property. Mr. H. J. "Ward 's house was fired, und his conservatory and aviary demolished. The house was fortunately rescued by the timely exertions of the firemen. A large crowd after, wards assembled in front of the res'dvuee of Mr. Wolfo, nnd apprehensions were cnlertaiirttl that it would be demolished hut thoy were addressed by Col. Thoinasson, Col. Preston nnd Mr. Gibson, nnd finally quietly dispersed. The projectors of the meeting are, doubtless vwry proud of its results; having achieved the assemblage of the firat tnob that over disgraced tho city. On the evening of the day on which the verdict was rendered, a number of the cit- i izen* of H ifdin county met at the Court House in Elizabethtow n, and adopted resolutions denouncing It. Fatal Affrat.?At muster ground nenr Anthony Crihb's on Saturday, n rencontre took plnro between Jesse C. Huggins nnd John Martin. Huggins pushed Martin and Mnrtsin seized a piece of board. The board nnd stick which Huggius ludd clashed :.t the first blow, Huggins reeieved the second blow on III* head, which resulted in his death nt 11 o'clock same night Martin has Je- I l.vered himself up to the Sheriff.
