The Royal Mail steamship Niagara, Cap. tain Rytie, arrived at Halifax on Wednesday night from Liverpool, which port she left on the 19th inst, Her udvices were not received in Baltimore until one o'clock on Thursday morning. The U. S. Mail steam ship Arctic arrived at Liverpool at midnight on tho 7th inst., in ten days and twelve hours from New York, and the British steam ship Alps on the 18th, in twelve days and twelve hours. 7V Liverpool Markrit .?In the Cotton market prices for American descriptions improved under the influence of the Arctic's advices, fair and middling qualities having advanced from a sixteenth to an eighth of a penny. Tho sales during the week comprised 58,360 bales, of which speculators took 10,360, and exporters 760 (?) On tho 18th, the aay preceding the departure of the America, the market opened active but fell off at the close, the sales having amounted to between 7000 nnd 8000 bales. TV London Market?.?The Coffee market is firm with an upward tendency. The Cotton market is Arm at an advance of an eighth of a penny. In Rice there is but a small business doing, and the sales during the week only comprised 100 casks. Havre Market*.?Prices in the Cotton market have advnnced under the influence of the Arctic's American advices. The sales on the 18th inst. amounted to 3000 bales. and Orleans Tres Ordinaire was quoted at f>2 francs. The Rice market opened active, but fell off at the elose. England.?Ijord John Russell stated in the House of Commons, that the Sardinian Government had requested British intervention against the sequestration by Austria of the property of Sardinian subjects, and that in consequ'nce ot this request, he had written a strong letter to Vienna.
