NOTICE OF ELECTION STATE OF SOUTH CAROLIN COUNTY OF EDGEFIELD Notice is hereby given that Genei'al Election for State County Officers will be held at voting precincts prescribed by la-v said county on Tuesday, Noven 2, 1920, said day being Tuesday lowing the first Monday in Nov ber, as prescribel by the State Cor tution. The qualification for suffrage: Managers of Election shall quire of every elector offering vote at any election, before allow him or her to vote, the productior his or her registration certificate i proof of the payment of all ta: including poll tax, assessed agai him or her and collectible during previous year. The production o: certificate or of the receipt of officer authorized to collect such t es shall be conclusive proof of payment thereof. Section 237, Code of 1912, .?amended by Act No. 6, special s .sion of 1914. Section 237. There shall be th: separate and distinct bal! ts, as ? lows: One ballot for United Sta Senator, Representatives in Congr and Presidential electors; and c ballot ?or*Tiovernor, Lieutenant Gi eruorf State Officers, Circuit Soli -^?ors, members of the House of I preventatives, State Senator, cour officers; and one ballot for all Cons tutional amendments and spec questions, each of three said bo? to be appropriately labelled; whi ballots shall be of plain white par. and of such width and length as contain the names of the officer officers and question or questions "be voted for or upon, clear and ev cut, with ornament, designation, m tilation, symbol or mark of any ki .whatsoever, except the name names of the person or persons vot for and the office to which such pe son or persons are intended to > -chosen, and all special questio "which name or names, office or ol ces, question or questions shall written or printed or partly writti or printed thereon in black ink; ai such ballot shall be so folded as conceal the name or names, que tion or questions thereon, and, ; folded, shall be deposited in a b< ^ to be constructed, kept and dispost & of as herein provided by law, and i ? ballot of anyother description foul Tm eith^r^oTsalonboxes snail be eour ed. . i On all special questions the ball shall state the question or questioi and shall thereafter have the wor< "Yes" and "No" inserted, so that tl voter may indicate his or her vo by striking out one or the other < such words on said ballot, the woi not so stricken out to be counted. Before the hour fixed for openir the polls, Managers and Clerks mui take and subscribe the Constitutior .al oath. The Chairman of the Boar of Managers can administer the oat to ihe other members and to th .Clerk; a Notary Public must admir ?ster the oath tc the Chairman. Polls at each voting place must b opened at 7 o'clock a. m. and clcsei at 4 o'clock p. m., except in the cit; of Charleston, where they shall bi opened at 7 a. m. and closed at ( p. m. The Managers have the power tc ?!l a vacancy, and if none of th( Managers attend, the citizens car appoint from among the qualifi?e .voters the Managers, who, after be . ing sworn, can conduct the election. .At the close of the election the Managers and Clerk must proceed publicly to open the ballot boxes and . count the ballots therein, and contin - Tie without adjournment until the ?same is-completed, and make a state ment of the result for each office . and sign the name. Within three days thereafter the Chairman of the .
