In a few weeks, not many at most, every trace of the work of installation will have disappeared and then we will be enjoying the unlimited supply of water. Colliers community was visited by a severe wind and hail storm Friday afternoon, resulting in considerable damage. Several farms were quite seriously damaged by hail and trees and small outbuildings were blown down. The area of the storm was about two miles in width. We publish this week the license ordinance recently passed by the town council for the ensuing year. On account of the increased cost of keeping up the town, the council found it necessary to increase the amount of some of the licenses. Mr. E. P. He will probably prepare a barbecue dinner on a larger scale July 28, the day of the senatorial campaign meet ing in Edgefield. The County Democratic Executive Committee met in the Court House Tuesday and fixed the following schedule of county campaign meet ings: Johnston, Thursday, July 22. Cooper School House, Thursday, July 29. Antioch, Thursday,. August 5. Berea, Friday, August 20. Edgefield, Monday, August 23. The assessments of candidates to defray the expenses of the campaign were fixed as follows: State senate, $15; House of Representatives, $12.50; Clerk of Court, $15; Super intendent of Education, $12.50; Su pervisor, $12.50; Sheriff, $15;. Coun ty Commissioners, $5 and Magis trates, $3. A motion was adopted instructing the treasurer of the committee to carry over whatever balance there may be, if any, after paying all ex penses, instead of returning any por tion to the defeated candidates. A motion was also adopted charging members of the executive committee with the duty of looking after the en rollment of the voters in their re spective club district, reporting to the county chairman what success the enrollment committees are hav ing in their efforts. This is a very important matter, as it is now less than three weeks before the enroll ment books must close under the rules, the night of the last Tuesday in July. All assessments must be paid to the treasurer of the executive com mittee, Mr. A. E.Padgett, and all pledges must be filed with the coun ty chairman by noon of Wednesday, July 21, the day preceding the first campaign meeting which will be held in Johnston, Thursday, July 22. NOTICE There will be no jury cases at the July term of court. The petit jury which has been summoned to appear on July 12th to serve as jurors need not appear. Whereas a petition has been filed, and all legal requirements met, it is hereby ordered that the regularly ap pointed Board of Trustees of. Beech Creek school district No. 18, do hold an election at the Wimbly Branch school house Saturday, July 24, 1920 for the purpose of voting upon the question of levying and collecting an additional special tax of six (6) mills on the dollar of all taxable property within said district, pro ceeds of such additional levy to be used for school purposes in Beech Creek school district No. 18. At this election only such resident electors as pay taxes on real or per sonal property shall be allowed to vote. The examination for the award of vacant scholarships in the University of South Carolina and for admission of new students will be held at the county Court House on Friday, July 6, at 9 a. m.
