Cheap Floor Stair. A very inexpensive stain can be ?nade from burnt umber and hot wa ter. Five cents' worth cf the burnt umber will stain several floors; that is, where a rug is used for the center. Pour the hot water over the burnt umber, little at a time, till it is thor oughly dissolved. Use a quart of hot water to five cents worth of umber; that makes a pretty dark brown stain. Let it dry, then rub on any good floor rwax and polish. Biggest Rubber Tree of All. TO Lat is believed to be the largest rubber tree in the world stands in the Brazilian territory of Acre, on the frontier of Boliva. Its stem is 27 feet ,2 7-10 Inches in circumference at the base. For 120 days every year this colossus gives 22 pounds of rubber a day. One cupful whipped cream, one-half cupful pulverized sugar, one table spoonful gelatin, one cupful chopped candied cherries, pineapple, and Eng lish walnuts. Dissolve the gelatin in one-third cupful hot water and mis all lightly together. Flavor with va nilla and pour into mold and stand on Ice for several hours. Serve with whipped cream. Shellback Macaroons. One pound of sugar, meat's from one pound nuts, chopped fine, three table spoonfuls flour, whites of six eggs. Beat whites, add sugar, and beat again: add flour,, and then the nuts. Drop in small drops on buttered tin a. d bake in quick oven. To Clean White Paints.
