Miss Hortense Padgett spent Sat urday and Sunday at Johnston. Grain is needing rain and in some sections the stand of c )tton is not satisfactory. Auditor J. R Timmertnan went over to Columbia Saturday on busi ness connected with his office. Mr. S. T. Williams went to Clemson yesterday to attend meeting of the board of trustees. Mr. C. M. Williams went over to Hephzibah, Ga., donday to visit his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Morgan. Everybody who can come to the Sunday school convention to-mor row and the next day will receive a cordial welcome. Gen. 17. R. Brooks, of Columbia, spent last. Saturday with his sister, Mrs. F. F. Moseley. His Edgelield friends always greet him most cor dially. The McDaniel school will close with a basket picnic and barbecue on Friday May 15 at the Key bridge. The public is cordially in vited to come and bring baskets. If you neglect to resister and are therefore denied the privilege of voting in the approaching town election, you will have no one to blame except yourself. Mr. L. C. At this election only such resi dent electors as return real or per sonal property for taxation, and who exhibit their tax receipts and registration certificates as required in general elections shall be allow ed to vote. Those favoring the special levy .shall cast a ballot with the word "Yes" written or printed thereon, and those opposed to such levy shall cast a ballot with the word "No"' written or printed thereon. Within ten days alter the elections if a majority of those voting shall favcr the special levy, the manag ers will submit to the county audi tor the result of the election.
