In publishing the essay last week on "The uses of Cotfou Seed Products," we stated that Miss Marion A. Wright was the author, when it ebould have beeD Master Marion A. Wright. The South Carolina- Cotton Seed Crushers Association offered a priz? for the beal essay upon the above theme, bv the pupils of the schools of tho statp. Marion, who is a pupil of the Trenton High School entered the contest, and while his admira bly written essay did not receive one of the capital priz s, Mr. B. JF. Taylor, secretary of the asso ciation, wrote him a letter com plimenting him upon tbe essay and enclosed a check as a prize. Mr. Taylor was sb favorably im pressed with the essay that he mailed it to The Advertiser, fo pablicatiou. He stated ip bis let ter that the author was Miss Mari-, ou A. Wright, of Trenton. So it was in this way that the error oe curred. Marion, who is au exoeod i ugly bright youth, as is evidenced by tho essay in question, is a brother-in-law of Superintendent of Education W. D. As ih? expp-nsion goes, the co' lege students had ?le lime of their lives on Friday evening last, the occasion being a leap-year Valen tina party. The young ladies ex tended invitations and escorted the young men to the chapel ; th'en made love to them and firially popped the quotion. A very unique and exciting contest was held. After the young ladies had "proposed," the young men ballotted for the young ladies who in\tbeir judgment popped the question in the most approved manner.
