This is unfortu nate, both for the producer and .manufacturer. Carlisle, presi dent emeritus of Wofford College and one of the three surviving sign crsof the secession ordinance, is honored, and beloved, wherever his name is known. Little wonder then that the announcement that he is to receive a pension of $1,150 per year from the Carnegie Founda tion has caused much rejoicing. The National Liquor League recently held its annual conven tion. It is not reasonable to suppose that the liquor men will "remain in active" as long as there is hope of saving the dispensary.
