W. Peak. Death of an Aged Lady. Mrs. Charlotte Salter died at the home of her son, Mr. P. F. Salter, near Trenton on Thursday morning last. Her mortal remains were laid to rest in the Ebeuezer cemetery, Dr. C. E. Burta officia ting at the funeral. This Christian woman was in ber eighty-seventh year when God called her home. During this long pilgrimage she served her Master well and made the lives of those about ber brighter and helier. Adjourning at 12:30o'clock, a delightful dinner was served on tho ground. At two o'clock the congregation again as sembled to witness the ordination of Rev. G. Tillman Asbill to the gospel ministry. Mr. Asbill had been examined by Rev. P. P. Bla lock who, not being able to be pre?eut, sent a note stating the satisfactory result of his examina tion. The sermon was preached by Rev. J. F. McMillan from the text "Pieach the Word." When our last issue was printed Walter Forrest was being tried for assault and battery with intent to kill, and, being found guilty, re ceived a sentence of $25 or three mouths on tbe chaingaug. He was represented by S. M. Smith, Esq., and the State by the solicitor, Charlie Johnson was convicted of bigamy, and, as he failed to ap pear at oourt, a sealed sentence stands against bim. Taylor Oliver, a negro boy 15 years of age pleaded guilty to the charge of arson. The jury "recom mended him to the meroy of the ? court." A senteuoe, of one year m the state reformatory and nine years on the couuty chaingaug was passed up-'>n him. John Donaldson, indicted for murder, was found guilty of man slaughter and sentenoed to 5 years on the chaiugang. Donaldson was defended by J. W. DaVore, Esq.
