Be Careful Boys. Taking the air guns and pa?lor rifles from the little boys sud lads of our town would at this season be a great deprivation, but 6ome of out citizens have been so great ly annoyed by these riflemen that there would be cause for rejoicing should they be disarmed. So in tent are thev to bag the birds that cross their pathway, these youth ful huuterH thoughtlessly invade f"he privacy of homes and premis es. It matters not where the bird wings its flight to the trees in the frout or back yards ns pursuer keeps up the chase and bangs away, jarring the nerves and prob ably endangering the lives of nearby person. These bright young boys are thoughtless, they mean no harm, but should be cautioued hy theif parents as to when and where to shoot at robiu redbreast. The Candidat es. It is not our purpose to intimi date any embryo candidates but it seems that the following from Ex Goyeruor Bob Taylor, of Tennes see, is amusing and apropos at this time: "Every honest man who runs for office is a candidate for trouble, for the fiuits of polit - cal victory turn to ashen on his lip1;. To me there is nothing iu this world so pathetic as a candi date. He ie like a mariner with out a compass, drifting on the tempest tossed waves.of uncertain ty between the smiling cliffs of hope and the frowuing crags nf fear. Ile is a talki jg petition and a living prayer. He is a pack horse of public sentiment. He is the dromedary of politics; and even if he reaches the goal of Ins ambition, ho will soon feel the beak of the vulture in his heart and the fang of the serpent in his! soul." Bibte Exhibit. Through the efforts of Mr. Robert Ransou, who is the govern ment weigher at Par khill and a deeply .pious and consecrated man, many of our people enjoyed the privilege of Boeing a great number of copies of the Bible, bound in different forms and translated iu many languages and dialects, at the Baptist church on Wednesday evening last. Dear Sir: Would you rather have your customers speak of your shoes as wearing well, ae not running down at the heel, as turn ing water, and taking a shine; or wag their heads and say nothing? We'd rather have ours, at Jong in tervals, say: "Wewant some more paint, and we want Devoe." We know it isn't in human nature to paint very often ; we dou't expect them to come very often ; don't want'em to. All we want is to paint what they have to paint, whenever they paint it : the lon ger the time, the surer they are to come-back. There's busiuess enough in the world; there are bouses enough to paint; let 'em take their time. If we were a shoemaker, we'd make shoes to last half a lifetime, and shoe the whole town.
