The three verv beautiful and talented youug ladies, Misses Lylei LaGrone, Nina and Andrii.a Ouzts, from Johuston, took very promi nent parts in the entertainment that wa6 given by the Presbyterian ladies Miss LaGrone captivated the large audience by the two re citations in negro dialect, it beiug evident that she was a very gifted elocutionist. Misses Nina and Andrina Ouzts, both of w"hom aro musiciaus possessed of a very high order of talent, have been gener ously complimented upon the beautiful manner in which they rendered the iustrucieutat duet. All of these talented young ladies were encored vociferously, Tohn ston is justly proud of them. Again Successful. The Presbyterian ladies know no such words as failure in what they unde:take. The entertain ment of Friday evening laBt, like all former ones giveu by them, was a great success. Despite the low ering clouds and falling rain, a large audience assembled and every number of the programme was charmingly rendered. Noth ing could have' been improved upon. And a more delighted and thoroughly satisfied audience we have neyer seeu. It is a privilege as well as pleasure to attend such [entertainments as are arranged by these gor d ladies. Notwithstand ing the inclemency of the weather thu snug sum of $45:35 was raised for the fund for remodelling the Presbyterian church. Their friends generally rejoice wi'b them in ibis succebs. Young Wife Taken. -All deaths are, as a matter of course, inexpressibly sad, but the taking of a gentle, loving young .wiXe.;fr.om the side of a devoted young husband ie- peculiarly sad. Such a dispensai iou of providence has been visited upon a happy McCormick home. On Saturday evening last Mrs. Fuller, tbs wife of Dr. R. M. Fuller, breathed her last. She wat- before her marriage the lovable and lovely Miss Lura Reynolds, a daughter of Mr. E. S. Reynolds, of LongmireF, and a sister of Mrs. A. E. Padgett of our own community. This . sweet spirited aud kind hearted Chris tian woman was greatly beloved by a large circle of friends, botb in the community where she spent the happy days of her .girlhood and at her adopted home, McCor mick. The ADVERTISER unites with the host friends in extending profound sympathy to the grief stricken loved oues in this ead hour. The interment took place on Monday at Bethany church, the luneta] being conducted by Rev. G. H. Burton, the pastor of the deceased. A Music Club Needed. Some of the ladies of our town who possess very decided musical talent have wisely begun the agi tation of the matter of organizing a Music Club. It would be diffi cult indeed to find a town of equal size that has within its borders a greater number of people who are endowed with . talent for music than has our own quiet little city. Yet with many this talent ?B dor mant, and it is for its development that the proposed club is to be organized. The coming together at stated times ol those whom ua ture bas made sweet singers and gifted performers upon various in struments will be an iucintive aud stimulus that will result in the development of the hitherto latent powers. By all means ht such a club b? organized. It is the need of the hour. All who aro inter ested and who wish to joiu the club are cordially invited to meot at tho hospitable home of Mr. and | Mrs. Jas. M. Cobb at 8 o'clock on Thursday evening next. We doubt whether there eau be found anywhere more accommo dating officials than those to be found in the two banks of Edge field. Banks all over the country, ?ilmost without exception, lock their doors promptly at three o'clock, and refuse to transact business of any nature whatso ever until after the openiug hour, uine o'clock, the next morning. Such a custom or practice is uot jonsiclered, by ?hose who under stand the intricacies of banking, to be arbitrary and unreasonable. Each dayV business consista of hundreds of transactions that in volve thousands of dollars, and after the receipts and disburse ments of the day the cash on hand must balance to a cents wi-th the records that have been ma e. Closing up the work is greatly re garded (of which the writer speaks advisedly) by persons calling after business hours to ha?e money changed or to attend to this or that matter. Usually there is more work-wbicb is purely men tal and very trying-to be done after the doors of a bank close than during business hours. The patrons of these two institutions should appreciate tho very liberal nolicy of the officials, who often, by reason of prolonging the busi ness day, are compelled to burn the midnight oil. Only recently the four banks of Greenwood pub lished the following notice : "We the undersigned banks will close for business each day promptly at 3 o'clock. We are compelled to take this action in order that we may balanee up and close each day's work properly." The foregoing is written without the knowledge of the officers of either of the Edgefield banks. Money To Loan Easy Terms. NOW is the time to make arrangements for the year's business..
