JJ AGENRAL JAIL DELIVERY. Six Laurens Negroes Escape From a Patent Cage. Laureue, S. C.,. June 9.-The town is all agog this morning over a general jail delivery effected during the small hours last night, a sort of French leave. There were six colored prisoners confined in a patent caes in the second story of the goal, the patent cage placed there at considerable cost during last year. One of the bars had been partially cut by an old case ! knife, this bar broken by a stout piece of timber five feet Jongmak-1 ing an exit hole into , the outer hull and the same piece of timber was used to beud a bar of the wiudowaud through this with a blanket rope the prisoners had an easy drop to the rear yard of the gaol. Your correspondent ex amined the environment and cannetsee that Mr. Bagwell, the gaoler and a prudent officer, is at fault. The prisoners are John Coleman who sometime ago escaped the chain gang by assalutiug the guard and was badly shot himelf, losing an eye. For his arrest Sheriff McCravy is using energetic means to secure their recapture and will no doubt succeed. There is some criticism of the metal of the "cage" iu the jail. But the trouble no doubt, was ihe leaverage of the big strong piecsof timber with six Negroes at the long end.
