Dean, of Eufala, Ala, came in on the 5.40 vestibule yesterday evening. He will spend a few days with hit brother, Mr. Pierce Dean and 80 down to Edgetield to see his father. -Greenwood Index. Prof. Newton, of Yale, says there will be between fifteen and twenty millions of them visible to the naked eye, but don't try to count them, they don't stand still long enough. The Edgefield Manufacturing] Company, Edgefi>ld, S. C., has re cently installed fifty new looms. This is one of the model plants of the South. It takes the cotton from the field, handles it until it is turned into cloth, and also utilizes the cottonseed, there being in connection with the cotton manufacturing department an oil mill and giuuery. There are now 200 looms and 5,000 spindles making sheetiugs and yarns. This ia a new plant, chartered in 1895, and having a capacity for 300 looms and 10,000 spindles. Edgefield is the couty-seat of county of that name, is in a fine cotton-growing section, and, is a prosperous and growing town. Southern Field. Lee Coming Home. Richmond. Va., Oct. 24.-Gen. I'itzhugh Lee, who is now in Cuba, pith be here on the 31st of this nonth. Of course it is a mere ?oincidenco, but it is none the less nteresting, that Gen. Lee will ?each Virginia at the most intensely nteresting period of the fight for ,he United States Senatorship. The general comes up to spend i two weeks, furlough, and jresumably has timed his visit to iccept the invitation to be present m October 31 at the launching of ;he torpedo boat Shubrick.
