There died very lately at Blackville, S.C., a well marked specimen of God Almighty's "handy work," an honest mau and a christian whose name heads this notice. Born in 1812 in then Edgelield District, and as some would say in the backwoods, he proved by a Jong and busy life that he sprang from the best kind of "woods" for the rise and development of sterling, self-reli ant business men, to whom character stands for their capital; and their word cunuuaudr, the use of another's money. Saved from modem sharpness, trickery and gambling proclivities ol the "front woods," he made friends, fastening them "with hooks of steel," and received oilers even without Hie asking of means to begin a business career when he was yet a young man. If any one ever Jost a dollar by Enoch B. Presley, it cou!J only have been since the war, when he regard ing others as honest as him self permitted them with less soul and perverted moral sense to rob him un der promise to pay of his hard earned capital.
