On Friday last, these two became .engaged in a desperate hand to hand - straggle, which resulted fatally for the older gentleman. As we hear it.from a .very reliable source, ibo affair was thus. Mr. Minick becoming irritated, suddenly lost control of himself, and catching . Smith by the throat, proceeded to pum mel him over the .head with a piece of board. Hereupon, Smith, with the sole intentionkhe says,, of intimidating the , old man, and cutting himself loose with out really injuring bis antagonist, drew his knife a?$F>inflicted "a: wound upo? 'thebody of Mr. Minick, Of which he died in about ten minutes? Mr. Smith, who ls represented os being crazed-with grief and horror, made his escape, and is still at large. Mr. Mrnick was aged about 70-a gentleman of unblemished imputa tion.
