For the Advertiser. A Tribute of Respect. MR. EDIToo:-As the Baptist Church of Christ at Republican has passed Resolutions expressing their loss in the death of their esteemed member, DANI.EL PRESCOTT, who died 20th January 1861, in the 72d year of his age, and request that they be published in the Advertiser, allow me to say, that not only that Church, but other Churches, not only that community, but all who knew him, can truly say a good man has fallen, and doubt less join with that Church and that community in their sorrow, which is not without hope-which being their consolation, they can prayerfully com mend to the bereaved family. D. D. BRUNSON REIUBLICAN Cucnen, Feb. 3, 1861. In view of the affliction with which Divine Providence has visited us in the loss of our ven erable Brother, Deacon and Friend, DANiEL PRESCOTT, we, the members of the Church to which he has been for the last thirty years so faithfully attached, having held the office of Dea con among us for twenty-eight years, and -thereby purchased to himself a good degree and great boldness In the faith which is in Christ Jesus, do adopt the following Resolutions as in expression of our reelings on this mournful occasion. Resolved, That we sincerely and deeply deplore the lose that has befallen our Church and commu nity in the decease of this venerable servant of Christ. Resoived, That we tender our cordial sympathy to the family of our venerable Brother in this their boreavement, and that we mourn their lost as our loss. Resoled, That as a testimony of the respect and esteem we entertain for the character of our departed Brother, these Resolutions shall be placed upon the minutes of our Church, and that a copy of the i ame be sent to the family of the leceased, and abo that we publish them in the Edgefield Adrer6gser. Your Companies will soon be organized accord ing to the provisions of the Military Bill passed by the Legislature of South Carolina. You will soon be required to elect the Field Officers fur your Regiment, and in iaking your selection for such responsible positions, it would be but prudence and wisdom on your part to elect men of experience and military ability,-who have done service to their country in the capacity of soldiers.
