Generally a few doses given to a child when it first appears unwell will soon improve its health, and render other medi cines unnecessary. It causes increased secretion and passage of thbo bile, purifies and invigorates the system, and prevents the accumulation of worms by keeping the child healthy. Its effect in preventing diseases of children makes it a valuable Family Medicine. The more it is appropriately used in a family the better will be the general health of the family. For sale at Edgefield C. 11., by E. M. PENN and Drs. C. W. & J. B. HODGES. Oct. 17 3m 41. JI C. DAWSON'S Guano Depot, NO. 6, WARREN BLOCK, A.L1. L B ta=0% T IIERE is to be found in this establishment a greater variety, and a larger stuck of pure and genuine Natural, Mixed and Manipulated FERTILIZERS, than in any other South of Bal timore, and the Planters of Georgia, South Caro lina and Alabama, are requested to call and ex amine the %tock before buying elsewhere-they will do well to do so. The most satisfactory certificates from reliable Planters in Georgia and South Carolina, are daily coming in, testifying to the virtue of these Ma nures, and will be, after let of November, forward ed in pamphlet form to any who may wish to see them. The AMERICAN GUANO, notwithstanding the unfavorable eason, hits won a reputation through out Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina, (where it his been extensively used,) that sets aside all cavil as to its position among the best Fertilizers yet discovered. It stands side by side with Peru vian. It is true there have been some failures-always will be-so therehas been with Stable Manure and Peruvian, indeed, every kind this season, but that does not prove that American Guano will nut pay a large per centage. In almost every ease, where there has been what is called a failure, it has been owing either to the manner in which it was ap plied, the cultivation or the quantity used. Some put it too far from the seed-some lose half by the wind1 blowing it away-others by inixing it with Stable Manure, or by using nut half enough to the acre; but take it as it was used, by the inexperi enced Planter. and so far as we have been able to learn the truth, in nine cases out of ten the Gu anoed Cotton, Corn, Wheat, Outs, Barley, Rye. Turnips, and all Garden Vegetables, have yielded nearly twice as much as the unguanoed land-so it pays even in the dryest seasons. You make but little this year-poor crops-but if you had used no Fertilizer, you would have made next to noth ing. If the seasons had continued throughout July and August as they did up to the 15th of June, the old worn-out hills of Georgia and Caro. lina would have groaned under the weight of the most overwhelming crops that were ever gathered. So don't be discouraged, but follow the example of the Dicksons, Thos. Whaley, T. J. Smith, of Han cck; Judge Roberts, of Warren : Dr. Mims, T. G. Lamar, and the Rainsfords, of Edgefield, S. C.; who return annually to their land from $4 to $ti worth of Fertilizers per acre, and your success will be like theira, an overwhelming income for the money invested, to seay nothing of the prinmanent iiprovement of your lands. Among the varieties I offer to the public are the fallowing; AMERICAN, PERUVIAN, SWAN ISLAND, COLUMBIAN, MONK'S ISLAND CO. LUMBIAN, MEXICAN GUANO, RUFFIN'S PIIOSPIIO,(whiec'h isone-lhalfPaernviat.) SANDS', HOYT'S. LONGETT SUPER.PHIOSI'IATES, amal MANIPULATED GUANOS, BONE DUST and LAND) PLASTER. All these Manures are pulverimed andl reatly form immeiaite use. All orders will receive harumpi attention. J. C. DAWSON, General Agent. T illS is one of tho OLDEST Establishments of the kind in the country-and they still maintain their supremacy in the market, having been awarded TIIRTY-EIGHT PRIZE MED ALS, over all competitors, for the superiority of their instruments exhibited at various Fairs in this country and Europe. They have had an Agency in this City for about thirty years, where thousands of their PIANOS have been sold to the ENTIRE SATISFACTION OF EVERY PURCHASER. And to protect their well-merited reputation as manufacturers, and the public from being imposed upon, it has become necessary to publish that every Piano made by them bears upon the "name board" "CHICKER ING, BOSTON," in the old English and Roman letters, and upon the "sounding board" "CHICK ERING.& SONS, BOSTON," with the number Of the Piano. JACOB CHICKERING is not a relation of theirs, au I has no business interest with them. I have the sole Agency for Augusta of Chick ering & Sons, and keep on hand a fall assort ment of PIANOS for sale at Factory Prices. And WARRANT each one to give entire satis faction.I Call and see them, and their superiority will be so apparent that you will be sure not to buy of PEDLARS or TRAVELLING AGENTS. CHARLES CATLIN, Sole Agent. P. S.-I have a fine Stock of STODART PI ANOS, and of other good Makers. Also, GUI TARS, VIOLINS, ACCORDEONS, MUSIC, Ac., &c., for sale low. All orders promptly attented to. C. CATLIN. Augusta, Feb 27 tf 8 FINE PIANOS, MUSIC, &c., &c. T HE subscriber, after returning thanks to their friends in Edgefield and adjoining Districts, for their liberal patronage during the last ten years, would inform them that they still continue to keep on hand a large assortment of T PIANO FORTES from the celebrated manufactories of Raven Bacon & Co., Hazelton Bros., and A. H. Gale A Co., New York, for whom they are sole Agents. These In. struments having already won such far-famed ce lebrity, it is only necessary for us to repeat that for 41re. -. ', durability and finish, together with powter, depth,TOeetnesN and moftnes of tone, they challenge competition. Persons wanting a Superior Piano Forte, would do much better to call and select from a lar e assortment, than by dealing with Pedlars and agents of inferior makers, where they have no choice, and have often to pay higher prices for in ferior Instruments, than fine ones of superior m.tkers can be bought for. Every Piano Forte sold by us is warranted in .ivory respect, so the purchaser runs no risk what over.
